CEO at South African Institute of Tax Professionals

Keith Engel is the Chief Executive Officer for the South African Institute of Tax Professionals. As part of his core duties managing the Institute, he is heavily engaged in tax at a policy, legislative and interpretative level (e.g. with National Treasury, Parliament, SARS, the Davis Tax Committee and the private sector). His role also includes presentations and participation in regional African tax issues.

Keith earned his undergraduate degree from the Georgetown University Foreign Service School and his J.D. and M.L.T. from the Georgetown University Law Center. Following graduation, he clerked for the Hon. Judge Smith of the U. S. Claims Court, was attorney/advisor to Assistant Chief Counsel (Corporate) of the Internal Revenue Service, and attorney/advisor to Associate Chief Counsel (International) of the Internal Revenue Service. At Washington and Lee School of Law he taught International Income Taxation, Partnership Taxation, Basic Income Taxation, and Corporate Taxation.
